2026 Conference on
MECHANISMS OF TOUCH & FORCE-BASED MANIPULATIONS
August 6-7  |  Fairfax, VA

A conference to disseminate knowledge, promote new collaborations, and build a community of researchers who will advance our understanding of mechanisms underlying FBMs, or the passive application of mechanical force to the outside of the body with therapeutic intent, often as part of pain management care, rehabilitation care, or general wellness and disease prevention. FBMs can include soft tissue manipulation, physical therapy, massage, myofascial release, OMT, and spinal manipulation, can involve forces such as light touch, pressure, mobilization, thrust, adjustment, and/or needling, can be mediated by contextual factors such provider, environment, subject, and can be studied at levels of structure and function such as molecular, cellular, region, and whole organism.

An interdisciplinary convergence of

Neuroscientists • Manual Therapists • Physiologists •
Mathematicians • Engineers
